I'm an EYB member but I keep getting asked to pay for CookShelf, or my books aren't syncing. How can I link my accounts?

If you're an Eat Your Books member and you're not seeing your books when you log into CookShelf, or you are a Premium Eat Your Books member and you are seeing a paywall on CookShelf, it is probably because your accounts are not linked properly.

  1. If you are a Premium Eat Your Books member, you do not need to pay again for CookShelf.
  2. The books and bookmarks on your Shelf should always sync between Eat Your Books and CookShelf.

If these things are not working properly, you likely have logged in with a different email address on CookShelf, causing your account not to link.


To find out if there's a mismatched email causing account not to link:

  1. Tap the Settings gear in the CookShelf app and check what email address you're using
    1. Note: If you see an email address in CookShelf with the domain "@privaterelay.apple.id" this means you selected "Hide My Email" when signing in with Apple. Unfortunately, this means CookShelf doesn't see your email and is therefore unable to link with your existing Eat Your Books account.
  2. Go to My Account page of Eat Your Books and check what email is associated with that account

If your email address does not match, log out and sign in with the right email:

  1. Log out of CookShelf (you can find the log out button in the Settings menu)
  2. Sign in again, making sure to use the same email address associated with your Eat Your Books account.
    1. If you previously signed in with Apple using "Hide My Email", you'll need to switch to a different sign in method that does not hide your email. You can use email/password, or Sign in with Google.
