How do I delete my account and data?

You can delete your account yourself in the CookShelf app or on the CookShelf website. Your data is deleted 21 days after you ask, and until then you can change your mind.

If you have a subscription, cancel it first. Deleting your account does NOT stop App Store or Google Play charges.

  • Apple App Store: on your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then tap Subscriptions. Tap CookShelf, then tap Cancel Subscription. Apple doesn't let us cancel App Store subscriptions for you.
  • Google Play or the CookShelf website: cancel it yourself, or email us at help@cookshelf.app and we'll cancel it for you.

Delete your account in the app

  1. Open Settings by tapping your profile picture in the top right, then tapping the gear icon in the top right.
  2. Tap Your Account.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap delete your account.
  4. Read the confirmation, then tap Delete.

Delete your account on the website

Sign in at cookshelf.app/account, scroll to the bottom of the page, and click delete your account. Then click Delete to confirm.

What gets deleted

Your CookShelf and Eat Your Books accounts are the same account, so this deletes both. That includes your shelf, bookmarks, comments, reviews, cooks, grocery list, meal plan, and goals. Once the deletion date passes, we can't get any of it back.

Changed your mind?

You can cancel any time before the deletion date. In the app, go to Settings, tap Your Account, then tap Keep my account at the bottom and confirm. On the website, sign in at cookshelf.app/account and click Keep my account. Your account is no longer scheduled for deletion, and nothing is lost.

Can't sign in?

Email help@cookshelf.app from the address on your account, and we'll take care of the deletion for you.
